Colombo National Museum

The Colombo National Museum, also known as the Sri Lanka National Museum, is a museum in Colombo and the largest in Sri Lanka. Founded in 1877 and maintained by the Department of National Museums, it holds collections of significant importance to Sri Lanka, such as the regalia of the Kandyan monarchs, as well as many other exhibits relating the country’s cultural and natural heritage.

Gangaramaya Temple

Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most important temples in Colombo, Sri Lanka, being a mix of modern architecture and cultural essence. Located on the Beira Lake, it was completed in the late 19th century. The temple is known for its intricate brass carvings, numerous sculptures and some mesmerizing Buddhist art.

Independence Memorial Hall

Independence Memorial Hall (also known as Independence Commemoration Hall) is a national monument in Sri Lanka built for commemoration of the independence of Sri Lanka from the British rule with the restoration of full governing responsibility to a Ceylonese-elected legislature on 4 February 1948. It is located in Independence Square (formerly Torrington Square) in the Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo. It also houses the Independence Memorial Museum.

Royal Colombo Golf Club

Established in the year 1880, the Royal Colombo Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Sri Lanka. located in the capital city of Colombo, also known as the Anderson Golf Course, the club is home to the “Sri Lanka Golf Union. In 1928, his majesty king George V granted the use of the prefix “Royal” to the club and consequently the Colombo Golf Club came to be known as the Royal Colombo Golf Club. 

Kelani Rajamaha Viharaya

At Kelaniya, about 10km to the northeast of Colombo, lays “Kelani Rajamaha Viharaya”, one of the most revered historic Buddhist temples of the orient. Set on the summit of a small mound lapped by the waters of the river Kelani, this beautiful shrine presents one of the most panoramic views ever offered to the tourist by this small island of ours, the pearl of the Indian Ocean.
